Spartan Stores Joins Leading Retailers in Deploying On-line Appointment Scheduling
Benefits from Improved Inventory Visibility and Automated Appointment Scheduling
Dallas, TX, USA (November 7, 2005) — One Network Enterprises today announced that Spartan Stores, the nation’s tenth largest grocer has gone live on One Network’s appointment scheduling solution, joining other top retailers such as Kroger, Safeway, Food Lion and Hannaford. Spartan Stores selected One Network because its advanced and widely used network delivers precision execution across a multi-company transportation process, spanning the supplier, carrier, procurement, transportation and distribution organizations, enabling lower operating costs and creating an integrated demand-driven logistics environment.
“Our vision is to integrate our supply chain processes from vendor to store. One Network allows us to bridge the visibility information gap between our internal business units, vendors and carriers,” stated Lachlan McKinnon, Director of Supply Chain Management for Spartan Stores. One Network allows us to automate our traditional labor intensive appointment scheduling process, while providing greater visibility to inbound order flows into Spartan Stores Distribution Centers.”
Because of One Network’s network-based model, Spartan Stores achieved a rapid deployment cycle, with a system go-live in less than 45 days, followed by quantifiable and immediate results. “We recognized the advantage of One Network’s expansive vendor and carrier community,” McKinnon added. “From day one, vendors and carriers were able to schedule our appointments on-line without training or interaction from Spartan Stores. This greatly expedited our deployment and required less overhead than a traditional internally hosted approach.”
“With Spartan Stores’ successful and rapid go-live, we again demonstrated our position as the leader in providing on-line appointment scheduling solutions to the retail industry,” stated John Keenan, CEO of One Network. “We now have over 1000 retailers, suppliers and carriers on our network, enabling a rapid adoption and high on-line scheduling compliance effect, resulting in lower operating costs, reduced supply variability and improved labor efficiency.”
