One Network Adds Wireless Expertise, Sales and Support to Its On Demand Value Networks
Additional staff to help customers implement RFID and other wireless technology; use real-time data to increase value network responsiveness
Dallas, TX, USA (15 December 2004) — One Network Enterprises, Inc. (ONE), provider of technology that transforms slow-moving supply chains into responsive value networks, today announced that it has added consulting, sales and support for wireless devices to its on demand value network solution. ONE’s Mobile Field Engineer affiliate has formed partnership agreements with leading hardware suppliers including Intermec, Datalogic (formerly PSC), Motorola (formerly Symbol) and Zebra. It has also hired experienced wireless hardware sales and support staff in Dallas, Atlanta and London.
“ONE will help customers to select, configure and use wireless devices to create a real-time connection between physical assets and our hosted value network services,” said Greg Brady, founder and CEO of One Network. “One Network participants use RFID and other wireless devices to track physical assets, and tie this real-time data to their order, shipment and inventory processes on One Network. We install and support the entire project, from hardware to the network to the business process.”
The One Network solution comprises a distributed transaction layer with network-wide visibility, on demand web applications, and shared business processes. All network partners access common data rather than relaying it from point to point, and use real-time decision support to resolve issues as they arise. RFID and other wireless devices bring real-time data to these networked processes. For example:
- Data from an RFID tag on a truck could be used to alert the One Network system that the truck would miss its appointment at the dock, triggering a rescheduling process using ONE’s appointment scheduling engine.
- Supply chain security can be increased by tracking an RFID tag on a container by satellite, and alerting the value network immediately when the container is opened or an unauthorized move has occurred.
- On the ONE Retail™ network, real-time point-of-sale (POS) information, along with data from inexpensive handheld devices, allows stores to better manage their perpetual inventory, and implement computer-assisted ordering processes based on actual inventory and demand.
- On the ONE Service™ network, field service organizations can access dispatch instructions on handheld wireless devices, adjust schedules based on actual call times, manage inventory, and track returned parts using RFID tags or barcode scanners.
“Complex supply chain processes rely on information —accurate and real-time,” said Ann Grackin, CEO of ChainLink Research. “There is a reason for the wireless and RFID mania, and it’s not just the Wal-Mart and DoD mandates. Constant pursuit of better intelligence is the driver, and has been the obsession of the best enterprises. The network and on demand applications will allow companies to access and gain real-time intelligence. Then they become more responsive to actual, constantly changing conditions in the value network. With its network services, ONE is well positioned to help companies do that.”
About the One Network solution
One Network created and hosts an internet-based value network with many-to-many connectivity, built on next-generation technology delivered in a flexible on demand model. Rather than simply accelerating point-to-point data exchange along a traditional linear supply chain, the One Network is a highly distributed value network where any participant can see and react to what is happening at any point in the network. Beyond visibility, the solution integrates transaction management with execution and real-time planning. Network participants create and share multi-company business processes, and can quickly adapt them in response to changing conditions. Incremental decision support allows partners to resolve issues as they arise in real-time, and automatically guides operations towards business objectives.
