Packaged Applications Are The Problem
Fundamentally Flawed For Multi-Enterprise Processes
Legacy application suites have two design flaws that, in turn, produce four operational barriers that constrain operating effectiveness and add needless costs to dynamic supply networks. The design flaws are rooted in the fact that they were designed for a time when processes were completed within “the 4 walls” and totally within the control of a single organization’s IT systems. Today, the execution of core business processes spans global operations, customers, trading partners and regulatory agencies. Second, they are built on legacy technology that impedes business process change and inhibits innovation.
The four critical operation barriers are:
- Inability to manage complex many-to-many relationships
- Lack of a single system of record for end-to-end process execution
- Cost and difficulty of customizing functionality to your business requirements
- Rigid separation of planning and execution systems
